Chad Carlton, M.D. is a fellowship trained laparoscopic and bariatric surgeon.
Dr. Carlton is a Texas native and grew up in Dallas. Dr. Carlton matriculated to the University of Texas at Austin where received a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees. He received his medical degree from UTMB, the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.
Dr. Carlton completed his internship and general surgery training at Allegheny General Hospital, Thompson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals in the nation. As a resident, Dr. Carlton presented his research and several case presentations at national conferences. He also served as executive chief during his final year of training.
After leaving Pittsburgh, Dr. Carlton completed his fellowship training as a MIST fellow at the University of Texas in Houston. This prestigious training program is a world leader in laparoscopic and robotic abdominal surgery. He also trained with the BMI of Texas in San Antonio.
Dr. Carlton was then recruited by the Baylor Health Texas Physician Network Group as the bariatric surgeon at All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth, where he focused on weight loss surgery specializing in Sleeve Gastrectomy, Gastric Bypass, Gastric Revisional surgeries, and Gastric Banding surgeries. Dr. Carlton operated and gave seminars throughout the DFW metroplex. He emphasized safety, good outcomes and reproducible results. He has completed over a thousand laparoscopic and robotic operations. Dr. Carlton is a member of the ASMBS, the national society for Bariatric Surgeons, and SAGES.
Dr. Carlton joined Abdominal Surgery Specialists and the Nicholson Clinic after practicing in Fort Worth and Grapevine. Dr. Carlton's extensive training as a minimally invasive surgeon allows us to expand our coverage. Dr. Carlton now offices in two Dallas locations and Plano and operates at a variety of centers throughout DFW.
Dr. Carlton has been married for ten years and has a seven year old son. He enjoys camping, cycling, and live music.
